ICU Services

Walton Regional Medical Center’s Critical Care Unit consists of a combination of six intensive care beds and ten telemetry beds. The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is designed for critically ill medical and surgical patients. The Telemetry Unit is utilized as a step-down unit for patients who no longer need intensive care and for patients who require a higher level of nursing care than the general floor patient does. Both units provide continuous EKG monitoring and a higher number of nursing hours per patient than is available on the general nursing floor. All critical care nursing staff have ACLS certification. The ratio of patient-to-nurse is one nurse for every two to three ICU patients or two to four telemetry patients. Adjustments are made as patient acuity warrants.
